So, after getting up at 6:30am and driving to my clinic "before" work, even though I didn't have to -- see previous post ;) -- it was worth it since my beta came back at 242! It's 13dpo, so that's nice and high but not enough to make me think that I've got a bridge team in there.
I'll go back in on Saturday for a 2nd beta. Normally they'd have us go 3 days later but that's New Year's and we've got plans -- not only is the Winter Classic (hockey) being played in Fenway that afternoon (unfortunately we couldn't get tickets, so we'll be camped out in front of the TV), but then we're meeting friends down in Providence for dinner and another hockey game, this one in-person. So beta #2 will be after a 4-day span and I've already calculated that it should be at least 610 to have a < 72 hour doubling time.
My clinic tried to convince me that I didn't even need a 2nd beta, but I was not having any of that. Little do they know, I plan on trying to strong-arm them into a 3rd beta some time next week. The recurrent loss card works well in these kinds of situations. I'm a girl who needs her data for peace of mind! First ultrasound is planned for Jan 13th.
If I sound a little detached and like I'm not yet doing cartwheels, it's because I'm not. After 2 losses in less than 12 months, I'm not going to believe this one until we get past the CVS test around the 11th week and I can, hopefully, be assured that there aren't any fatal abnormalities. It's self-preservation. I'm usually a very even-keeled person but this latest loss in September floored me and, while I know I will, I don't want to get sucked in too much again until we get past all the tests.
Here's my little checklist of sorts:
1. Beta #1 - check!
2. Beta #2 (1/2)
3. Beta #3 - will attempt to schedule one @ 1/7)
4. Ultrasound #1 - 6 weeks (1/13)
5. Ultrasound #2 - 8 weeks (@ 1/27)
6. Released to OB (@ 1/27)
7. First appt with OBGYN (@ 2/8)
8. CVS test (@ 2/15)
If I can get checkmarks next to all of those eight line items and make it into mid-February with this bean(s), THEN you won't be able to stop those cartwheels up and down the East Coast!
Fanfreakingtastic! That is a great number! I'm so excited for you and your DH. Can't wait for the next number.
ReplyDeleteWhat amazing news! That's great!!
ReplyDeleteOkay - now I know what a CVS test is I can comment. I think it's really wise to remain cautious and save the cartwheels until you have got through your checklist. I might have to borrow it someday.
ReplyDeleteI am cautiously and quietly optimistic and happy for you:)
Love the bridge team image!
((HUGS))
Great number! I'll admit that I actually went in for FOUR betas this time, then two ultrasounds at the RE and then two with my midwife... And I still didn't really believe it. I'm so happy that you got a good number today and I've got my fingers crossed that the rest of your checklist brings nothing but good news!
ReplyDeleteExcellent beta! Congratulations (of the cautious variety) to you. I can't wait to see you check off all those milestones!
ReplyDeletegreat number! congratulations! we'll do cartwheels for you...yipeeeeee!
ReplyDeleteGreat number! I hope this time until February is quick and we can all start the cartwheels!
ReplyDeleteFirst, Merry Christmas! Second, YAY for being off another week! Third, Yee Haw for the beta! I'm so happy for you! You have been through so much and you so deserve a happy ending this time. I'm hoping with all I have that this/these bean(s) stick around for you this time. I am going to be cautiously optimistic with you, too. However, I'm getting my cartwheel shoes (whatever those are) ready for a February Marathon! I really my team would be able to play in the Winter Classic...but alas, they are not an original 6 team so it's at least a few years away. Have fun watching and going to the hockey games! Hopefully some of that will help keep your mind off of other pending things...yeah, right. :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat number! I hope things get checked off like clockwork so you can start those cartwheels :).
ReplyDeleteI love hockey! In college, we used to go watch the local team all the time (yes, they have hockey in Louisiana :)). Have a great time, and enjoy your second week off.
Congratulations! I don't think I have posted on here yet but Ive been following for a while. ( and also live in the Boston area!)
ReplyDeleteThis is excellent news. I hope it just keeps getting better and better!

Woot! Woot! That is a great beta :) Yahoooooo!!!!
ReplyDeleteI hope the next 7 items on your action list are completed with ease ....
Wooohooooo!!! I'm so happy for you!! Curious to see how many you've got brewing in there :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats!! I'm doing internal cartwheels for you!! I completely understand what you're feeling. I'm still waiting to put some check marks on my list too, but I'm hoping both you and I easily put checkmarks next to our items and we both get to do cartwheels up and down the east coast!! Good luck!! Enjoy your New Year's!! :)
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Such a strong early number!
ReplyDeleteOf course, there is always a checklist, but so nice to start with a big fat checkmark at the beginning!
Congratulations. That's a great number! I hope everything goes well from here on out.
ReplyDeleteDude, I can't believe you have to wait until tomorrow for your second beta. This is killing me! How can you stand it!
